SEMINAR 2. CALL & Language Skills

Remember CALL? Let's talk about it. My task is to look through some educational services and share my opinion on them. Let's go!

I've tried multi-skill collections by the Kelly brothers. As said in the domain, the site has many things. And I can say that the service is great! This web site is for people studying English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL). There are quizzes, word games, word puzzles, proverbs, slang expressions, anagrams, a random-sentence generator and other computer assisted language learning activities! It even has an iPad version, so that's convenient.

As for the Listening, Speaking and Pronunciation, I would like to tell you about Professor Higgins multimedia software. It is called English without accent There's a huge collection of english lessons in here. So, it might be helpful for you. But it isn't online, so you should download it.

As for the Reading and Writing, you should try The Learning Resources . I liked it because it offers web-delivered instruction using current and past CNN San Francisco bureau and CBS 5 - KPIX (CBS Broadcasting) news stories. The learner can choose to read the text, listen to the text, and view a short video clip of the story.

ESL Resource Center is GREAT for reading!!! After you read, it offers you a short test. So, it's a good feedback and a wonderful way to improve your language skills.
For collaborative writing tasks you can use Google Docs

GRAMMAR. I advise you to visit grammar portal www.esltower.com . It has a huge collection of exercises to do!

VOCABULARY. Vocabulary.com may seem simple on the outside, but you can learn over 13,000 words through questions, games.

Very useful for me, http://www.pdictionary.com/  It has a picture dictionary for English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. I liked this site the most.

Need to know more about bookmarks?

Let's analyze  the evolution of bookmark services dated 2008 through 2016. Do not really understand why people use some online services, for me it's ok to have the bookmark page in my Google Chrome browser. Let's find out why people use online services for it! Diigo  ? If you use modern browser and some online services like dropbox or google drive, evernote. Why shoukd you start using diigo? Don't understand. Why should you waste your time in 2017 trying to find bookmark service that suits you??? I advise you to use standart extensions in your browser. Anyway, let's try one of the services.  Wow, everything looks so ugly and not intuitive. Sadly, I think this service is not too easy to use. Terrible Gargbage!!! Compare: Safari Google Chrome
